Clearing the way?
There’s not really a shortage of trees around here, I recognize that. In fact, in my hour-long commute to and from the office, I pass hundreds, thousands, maybe even millions of trees. (So many trees!)
And yet, somehow it’s a little depressing that the lot adjacent to the office building is being clearcut. I don’t know why they’re stripping the land, or what might get put there once they’re done. For all I know, it’s going to be a beautiful rainforest sanctuary with unicorns, rainbows and orphaned puppies. And koalas; koalas are critical to the success of any rainforest sanctuary.
It doesn’t stop me from grimacing when I drive by the lot, though. Those trees looked like they’d been there for quite some time, and now they may very well be on their way to being made into barstools.
An unfortunate end: these regal, majestic trees, cut down and turned into fart cushions. I suppose I’ll just pretend it’s a greenhouse that’s being built.
