There’s only a couple games left in the pro football schedule before the playoffs begin, which means it’s time for my annual “this is how online backup is kinda like football” blog post. Only this year, I’m not going to jinx my Patriots by referencing them in this article. No sirree, this post is all about the plays you call.

When times are going great, it’s 1^st and 10, you can call pretty much any play you want. You can call something audacious (“flea flicker to Chad, ready…break!”) and if it doesn’t work, hey, you’ve still got a few downs to go. But let’s say it blows up and it’s 2^nd and 10. Now you’ve got to pick something a little more down to Earth (“pitch left to Rob, ready…break!”) and try and make some forward progress.

But that might not cut it either. So now it’s 3^rd down and you’re still not home free. Now you’re in just-make-it-happen mode. Hand it off to the running back and plow through the defensive line.

We’re the running back. We’re the reliable guys you want with the ball when it’s do-or-die time. Because in business, when your data is in jeopardy, it is do-or-die. A stunning amount of businesses fail after a data loss, and we’re here to prevent that from happening to you.

So call the plays, coach. Only be sure that you’ve got that failsafe ready for third and inches, cause your business can’t afford to punt.
